Kimberly Martin-Epstein gave a presentation on Mortgage and Security Basics for the Boston Bar Association. The program covered the basics of perfecting security interests of lenders in real estate transactions, focusing on key provisions in mortgages, pledges and UCC considerations.
Attendees learned the basics of how lenders perfect their collateral and interests in real estate transactions and related documentation, including key provisions in mortgages, pledges, and UCCs and how various interests are secured and perfected. Attendees are now aware of Massachusetts-specific requirements, provisions which are standard and/or negotiated, and issues to be aware of when representing either a borrower or a lender in the drafting and negotiation of these documents.
